Why the Servator's Hovering Sphere Is So Hard to Explain

A large mass holding a fixed altitude with no measurable exchange of momentum is not a hard engineering problem. It is a violation of the accounting.

What we actually know

Anything that stays up either rests on something, floats because it displaces heavier fluid, or pushes mass downward. A helicopter pushes air. A rocket pushes exhaust. A balloon displaces air. In every case, momentum goes one way so the vehicle goes the other, and instruments can detect the wash, the heat, or the field.

Where the extrapolation begins

Human physics leaves narrow doors open — extremely exotic mass-energy distributions, or interactions with fields we have not characterized. All of them require energies or materials we cannot produce, and most would still leave a detectable signature.

What the novel invents

The Servator leaves no signature at all. No downwash, no thermal plume, no measurable field, no gravitational anomaly beyond its own mass. In the story this is deliberately unexplained: 'no detectable effect' is not an answer, it is the shape of the question humanity cannot yet ask.
